Nuclear Throne y RUINER ya están disponibles de forma gratuita en Epic Games Store

Epic Games is at it again this week, what with the free games and all. Every week the gaming company best known for Fortnite kicks off another week-long giveaway where PC gamers to try and entice them to download the launcher. This has been a thing for a while now, and this week’s selection is two indie titles with wildly different themes.

It’s the only reason so far I’ve had to use the Epic launcher, because who can say no to free games. So if you want some free titles, install the launcher and go claim them. If you’re like me, you’re quite content to grab the free games and ignore the storefront itself until it actually reaches a usable and bug-free state, but I digress.

First up is Nuclear Throne, a top-down shooter that many console gamers will be well familiar with by now. The brutal and yet compellingly cute aesthetic of this post-apocalyptic action title is quite the culture clash, and it works pretty well for the feeling that developer Vlambeer was going for. El juego en sí es un roguelite, lo que significa que una mezcla de progreso persistente y fracaso implacable está a la orden del día en este páramo. El núcleo del juego gira en torno a la recogida de radiación de los enemigos caídos para mutar nuevos miembros y habilidades que convierten al jugador en una máquina de matar más eficiente. Es bastante divertido, y no se puede superar el precio gratuito.

RUINER por otro lado es totalmente diferente en el tono, la ejecución y la identidad.    También puede ser un difícil shooter de arriba hacia abajo, pero ahí es donde terminan las similitudes con el título anterior. El juego es un shooter de acción mucho más brutal ambientado en el año 2091, en el que asumes el papel de un lunático asesino que se propone diezmar todo lo que encuentre a su paso en este futuro distópico. Hay un trasfondo de historia con una trama sobre un hermano secuestrado, pero la mayoría de la gente sólo quiere jugarlo por la violencia gratuita.
